Eric Wienke

Product Design Leader & Enterprise UXpert

I design and ship consequential software—from 0→1 products at seed-stage startups to shared platforms for enterprise product suites at Oracle and Cisco.I work hands-on across product definition, interaction design, prototyping, and production, and I’ve led teams building the systems that help that work scale.

How I AI

I'm mildly obsessed with AI tech

Research

ChatGPT · Claude

Build context. Ask better questions.

I use conversation to research products, markets, and trends, sharpen questions, and investigate assumptions. I check consequential claims against original sources and use the findings to inform design decisions.

Product examples, market signals, and source documents pass through an evidence check to become focused research questions.
From source material to useful questions.
Design

Claude Design · Google Stitch · Paper · Figma

Explore broadly. Refine together.

I use Claude Design and Google Stitch to explore different approaches quickly. For collaborative visual exploration, I prefer Paper, where I also iterate on designs connected to the design system codebase. For now, I bring designs back into Figma to add the final touches and obsess over the details.

Build

Claude Code

Make it work. Carry it through.

I build coded prototypes and make direct frontend contributions—from bug fixes and UI enhancements to new design system components. Working in code lets me test behavior and carry design intent into implementation.

Experiment

Ongoing tool evaluation · pen.dev

Keep testing what’s possible.

I regularly evaluate new tools and features. My holy grail: canvas and code fully in sync, with edits reflected on both sides. I like how close pen.dev gets, though its design features are still too basic for my day-to-day needs. I keep reassessing as the tools evolve.

The goal: a continuous loop between canvas and code.

My standard stays the same. Check the evidence, question the design, and review and test the code. It has to solve the problem and hold up in use.
